TWILIGHT, STAR BRIGHT
I am not even going to try to fake it. I am well past the demographics, do not have a teenage daughter and have an innate aversion to pop culture hysteria. So I kind of missed the boat on this Twilight phenomena. I get the whole Jacob or Edward dilemma, after all the best friend vs bad boy is as old as time. What I don’t get is how women paying off their 3rd minivan who should know that the sun has set on their swooning days are going nuts over this movie. I guess the rigors of shuttling kids from soccer to ballet to tennis wear on modern-day uber moms a bit.
What does intrigue me (and not just because it sells tshirts, which is a good thing
is the author. What I find pretty fascinating is the story of Stephenie Meyer. As twihards (twilight hard-cores for the uninitiated), know Ms. Meyer was a stay at home mom juggling three children when she had one dream that soon developed into a series of dreams. This nocturnal narrative grew into the Twilight series. Stephenie Meyer had never penned anything before this. Are you kidding me? Not so much as a letter to the editor? I may just force myself to take some naps today.
